Grandview, WA - The Grandview School District and its teachers have reached a tentative agreement on a contract.
Teachers originally planned to picket outside the administration office this morning, but the school district and union struck a deal at three in the morning.
One elementary school teacher actually road to work with signs, ready to picket with other teachers, But then got a call with the good news.
"I'm ecstatic, pleased," says Shawna Jeck, a 2nd grade teacher at McClure Elementary School, "Pleased we can put our energy other places."
"There's internal fighting that goes on," says Supt. Kevin chase, "It's just nice to be able to go to school and know that I don't have to bargain again."
Teachers still need to ratify the new contract and the school board has to approve it.
