Governor Gregoire Visits Yakima, Talks About Hot Topic
YAKIMA, Wash - After about a half an hour of answering questions, someone finally asked Governor Christine Gregoire about immigration reform and tougher border security. Gov. Gregoire then asked the audience who came out to her town hall meeting Monday night if that was the reason they attended. Nearly half of the audience raised their hands, indicating they were there with that concern. The crowd gave a big applause when they heard what Governor Gregoire had to say about their concerns.
"This country has got to step to it, we have to step up to immigration reform. We are going to continue to see this problem and all the other problems we are seeing in this state and across the country," said Gov. Gregoire.
She also addressed border security.
"I am all for border security. I am absolutely emphatic we need to have our borders secure."
It appeared most of the 500 person crowd approved of the governor's remarks at Franklin Middle School.
