Three more miles of Highway 12 have been turned into four lanes
The U.S. Department of Transportation celebrates the completion of the third phase of construction on Highway 12.
The new four lanes are open from Burbank to Wallula, bringing the highway one step closer to its final completion. There are three more phases to finish before it is four lanes the entire way to Walla Walla.
Regional Administrator for WSDOT, DOn Whitehouse says, it's not only about making the highway safer but also about economic development, he knows the people of the area really know the value of transportation.
The next three mile phase of the expansion will be up for bid this winter. The hope for the project is to make Highway 12 safer and less congested.
