A Kennewick Family Reflects on a Father and Husband

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.--Sina Vaeila spoke about the man she knew and loved for 14 years. Her husband, Savelio, was a caring and devoted father of four.

"Not a day go by that he talked about his kids," says Vaeila. Everything to him is his kids.

His brother-in-law, Joe Fung Chen Pen, said Savelio was a hard worker. Occasionally though, he would clown around. After all, he was just a big kid.

"Ask anybody, church, work, friends, they'll tell him he's the funniest guy they know," admits Fung Chen Pen. He'll just make up something just to make you laugh, ya know.

Savelio worked at the Home Depot in Hermiston, Oregon. Getting to work each day was a struggle, says Sina. But things were about to get better.

"They said they were going to transfer him on October 29th," mentions Vaeila. So, he was happy for that. He's like it's close to home, no commute, no nothing.

But to a family and church, Savelio was everything.

"That's all he wanted to do is take care of his family, ya know," says Fung Chen Pen. His kids still had better things than he did.
