GRANDVIEW, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol are dedicating a new Scale and Detachment Office in honor of fallen Trooper Raymond Hawn.
He died almost 18 years ago on January 17th, 1990. He was hit by a car while helping another driver who ran out of gas on the side of the road.
It happened on the Yakima Valley Highway near Grandview. He was 47 years old and at the time of his death, Trooper Hawn had served 21 years with the Washington State Patrol.
In honor of his passing, the new Grandview office off West Interstate 82, Exit 75 will be dedicated October 29th.
The building will be identified to match Hawn's badge number 741. The location of the building is about a mile from where Trooper Hawn was killed.
The dedication starts today at 3 p.m. If you would like to attend, just take Exit 75 off Highway 82 in Grandview.
