Pasco Teacher Gets Local Ceremony as Teacher of the Year
PASCO, Wash.- Pasco teacher Laura Jones finally gets a local reception after being honored as Washington's 2008 Teacher of the Year.
Jones is just happy to be back in front of her students.
People here in the Tri-Cities got their first chance to honor jones at a ceremony Tuesday in Pasco.
Jones spoke to the group where she gave most of the credit to her students and the co-workers who nominated her.
"I've had former students stop by and say "hi" and how much they appreciated me and the difference i made with them in their lives and so it's been great to get the calls, and e-mails from parents," she said.
Fluor presented the District with a $1,000 check in honor of Jones.
She'll spend the next year travelling the state talking to other teachers as a teacher ambassador.
