KENT, Wash. (AP) - The jury in the Frederick Russell trial in Kelso had Wednesday off while the defense lines up remaining witnesses.
The lawyer says one is sick and another is at another trial.
When testimony resumes Thursday, jurors may hear from Russell's mother.
He's charged with vehicular homicide and assault for a crash six years ago that killed three Washington State University students and injured three others on the Moscow-Pullman Highway.
Prosecutors say he was drunk and speeding.
The defense lawyer challenges the alcohol test results and says threats forced Russell to flee.
He was one of the U.S. Marshal's Most Wanted fugitives when he was caught two years ago in Ireland.
The trial that that was moved from Colfax to Kelso could go to the jury by Friday.
