Franklin County Commissioners Approve Plan to Extend Commercial Avenue

Pasco -- Avoiding danger on the roads was the topic at the Franklin County Courthouse this morning.
At issue: How to extend Commercial Avenue in Pasco between Pasco-Kalotus Road and Tank Farm Road and, at the same time, satisfy the needs of area landowners.
Two concepts were introduced. And although the room was full, there was no opposition to the commissioner's favored plan. Only one man, Tony Czebotar of Czebotar Farms, spoke up. Although in favor of the plan, he addressed the dangers at U.S. 12 and Tank Farm Road:
"There's going to be a massive fatality there. Literally, you're taking your life in your hands crossing that road either in the dark or with grain trucks coming in, fuel trucks from Chevron, Tidewater. It's just a disaster waiting to happen."
County Commissioners voted in favor of the project, planned to ink the deal later in the day, and moved to the next issue. Now the county engineer will pursue funding.
