Judge reviews petition to recall Kittitas County Commissioners
KITTITAS, Wash -- Three Kittitas County Commissioners were in court Thursday fighting a petition to recall them.
At the heart of the recall drive is a disagreement over a proposed wind farm. Desmond Knudson is for it, while Commissioners Alan Crankovich, Mark McClain and David Bowen are against the wind project.
Today, Knudson, who filed the recall petition, tried to prove that all three commissioners, by challenging the governors decision to allow the wind farm, were not complying with the Washington Growth Management Act.
But recalling elected officials in the State of Washington is much tougher than other states, because you have to prove wrongful misconduct. A standard Commissioner Alan Crankovich says can't be reached.
"I have said before, there is no foundation for this recall. It's base on opinion and I am comfortable that the judge will rule in our favor."
Judge Michael Cooper did not issue a decision today. He has over two hundred pages worth evidence to review. And should reach a decision sometime next week.
