Yakima, WA -    Pacific Northwest University introduces a new president.

Dr. Stan Flemming becomes the third president in the medical school's brief history.

This comes after a nine month search.

He'll replace Dr. Fred Tinning who had been serving as president on an interim basis since last December.

"It's a calling. You don't just wake up one day and say you want to be president of a university," says Dr. Flemming, "You do a lot of thoughtfulness and prayer about it. And my wife and I had many different conversations about it and realized, okay, this is where I'm being called to be."

Dr. Flemming has a long resume.

He is a former brigadier general, Washington State legislator, as well as an osteopathic physician.

He and his family now live in the Puget Sound area.
