YAKIMA, Wash.- Thursday Supreme Court declared Tim Eyman's 2001 Property Tax Initiative unconstitutional. Eyman says it could lead to local governments hiking property taxes. He says now that I-747 was shot down tax payers should be worried, since every local government has unused taxing authority built up.
" Local Government can really stick it to you now, and there's nothing you can do about it," said Eyman.
KNDO tracked down County Commissioner Ron Gamache to see if the county plans to hike property taxes. He told us, "We don't feel like that's what the voters want- we want to keep our faith to the voters."
Ron says it does put the county in a dilemma because inflation costs are adding up to about three percent every year.
"We may consider increasing our costs to status quo, instead of reducing our services," said Gamache.
