Richland Detective Calls Freeman Case "Never ending"Posted: Updated:
RICHLAND, Wash.- Police call the Ken Freeman child rape case never ending.
The Detective who first investigated Freeman says since the child pornography case went nationwide, he's been flooded with subpoenas to testify against Freeman.
That piece of child porn is one of the most downloaded on the Internet, and it's been replicated thousands of times.
Almost every time someone is arrested for downloading it, Richland Detective Roy Shepherd is called in to confirm the piece is indeed child pornography.
"Fresno, Tacoma, another one in Fresno," he said, pointing at the subpoenas.
Shepherd has been on this case from the start.
"Case that I investigated regarding the abuse of a female that he was, his daughter basically."
Today, three subpoenas hang from his desk asking him to testify to the validity of the sex tape Kenneth Freeman is accused of making. He says two more are in the mail.
"I can verify that the images downloaded on that particular suspect's computer, or wherever he had in possession of were of the victim in my case."
Shepherd has already helped put one man behind bars for possessing the tape.
Now he may have to testify against one of his own. A Police Officer who investigated a similar case who allegedly took copies of the tape for personal use.
"Never ending, it just keeps, every week I get new requests because this particular series of child pornography was one of the most prolific downloads."
The District Court pays for it all. They plan it, put together an itinerary, get him a place to stay and with the wide distribution of the video, the testimony may never end.
"It's never gonna end because it's always gonna be there, unfortunately."
Shepherd says when he was first contacted to testify about this, there were 128 pages of police agencies around the country looking for information about that piece of child pornography.
