What's on your Thanksgiving schedule? For U-10 driver David Bryant, it's racing... in the Dunes

Posted:

David Bryant, driver of the U-10 USA Racing Partners unlimited hydroplane doesn't have the traditional "Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving."

Instead of the family around the dinner table with a turkey on the table, Bryant and his family and friends travel to the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational area, specifically the Buttercup Valley.

The Dunes are located about 10 miles east of Yuma, Ariz. in Imperial County, Calif.

The Dunes are some of the best in the country for running Sand Rails.  It's perhaps best known for Jabba the Hut's Sail Barge Scenes in Return of the Jedi.

The Imperial Sand Dunes are the largest mass of sand dunes in California, extending more than 40 miles.

History of the Dunes >>

Buttercup Valley consists of 11,000 acres of open space sand dunes and plays host to 4 x 4's, Motorcycles, Dune Buggies, Sand Rails, and ATV's.

Video from YouTube of Dune Buggies racing across the Buttercup Valley. Looks like a lot of fun.
Note - this is not video from the Bryant family vacation.
