WINNIPEG, MB - The Manitoba AAA Midget League is pleased to announce that Tri-City Americans prospects, Peter Stoykewych and Brett Martyniuk have grabbed top defensive honors during the month of October.

Stoykewych of the Winnipeg Wild was named the DEKALB Defensive Player of the Week in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.  Stoykewich, 15, guided the Wild to a 2-0 record over the past week.  Stoykewich recorded a goal and three assists and was a plus-4 over the weekend and currently leads the Wild in the plus/minus category with a plus-19 in 13 games played.

Martyniuk of the Winnipeg Thrashers was named the Super 8 Motels Defensive Player of the Month for October in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.  Martyniuk, 16, has allowed just two goals, resulting in the league leading 0.50 goals against average and two shutouts in his first season with the Thrashers.  During the 2006-07 season, he had the lowest goals against average in the league, won most outstanding goaltender and was a major player in the Winnipeg Hawks championship title.
