Yakima, WA - Delta announces plans to cut its afternoon flight from Yakima in January.
But the move is only temporary.
Delta will cut the flights on January 3rd.
They'll begin flying again on February 14th.
Passenger demand is lower during that time frame and fuel costs are unusually high for the winter-time this year.
Mike Morrisette, Chairman of the Yakima Chamber of Commerce, says local businesses should not be concerned at this point.
Morrisette did say Delta passenger loads have dropped from as high as 80% at certain times in July, August and September to 60% in October, but he says that has more to do with seasonal demand.
A rep for Delta says the airline constantly monitors passenger demand and operating costs in its decision to adjust flights within markets.
