KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities Wine Society got together Friday night to drink wine but also to raise money for wine education. The event is the longest running, judged wine festival.
Over 60 wineries from all over Washington, Oregon, and Idaho are represented at this weekend's wine festival. They will be bringing in over 200 wines.
The goal is to raise money for the Tri-Cities Wine Society, which is a non-profit group that educates people about wine. Society organizers say improving people's wine IQ does more than just make them appreciate what they are drinking. They think it also improves the Washington Wine Industry.
In our area alone, there are 150 wineries within an hour's drive of the Tri-Cities. Festival organizers say they hope this weekend's festival will raise several thousand dollars for the Society.
And you can play a part in the festival too, tomorrow at the Pasco Red Lion there is an open wine tasting, starting at six.
The tickets are $55 in advance and $60 at the door.
