Richland -- It's estimated that disaster could cripple local business. The numbers show as much as forty percent of all merchants would never recover.
Now the Washington Emergency Management Division has launched a massive website that targets business. It offers listings of preparedness trainings for businesses. There are embedded links that take users to related sites. Organizers have said it is comprehensive but user friendly. But some, like Steve Sautter with Benton County Emergency Management have a warning. They say it will take time to get through it all.
"It's like drinking out of a fire hose. There is a lot of information coming out. This is an opportunity for you to take a little bite out of the elephant at a time when it comes to securing your business and keeping it safe."
Jim Mullen, EMD Director for the Sate called the new website a road map to prepare businesses for the worst. Others speculate the sheer amount of information may intimidate business owners.
