Advertising is big for retailers especially during the holidays, but there's something they should know before they hit the streets with their ads.
The Washington State Patrol wants to remind everyone that it is illegal to put a lighted advertisement on a moving vehicle.
State patrol says drivers already have enough distractions on the roadways and adding more is completely unnecessary. The only vehicle allowed to have a lit sign is a taxi.
Washington State Patrol has noticed an increase in companies that advertise on moving vehicles which is legal but if the ads move are lit while moving the driver is subject to a $124 dollar fine.
Troopers say the lighted devices confuse and distract drivers and create a greater risk of collisions.
