Gas Prices Won't Scare Traveling Customers Away from Local Wineries

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash - A lot of people from the west side of the state like to head to Yakima Valley wineries during the upcoming holiday weekend.

People can take the Wine Country Tour through the valley, which is one of the more profitable events.

Gas prices have gone up an average of 60 cents from this time last year, but that doesn't concern staff at Kana.  They expect this year to be their best one yet.

"People are going to come no matter what because they want to either visit friends or family for Thanksgiving," says Katherine Goodson, owner of Kana Winery.

Goodson explains last year her business was hurt because of wintry weather on the passes.

This weekend is one of the three most popular for wineries.  It goes along with red wine and dark chocolate for Valetines day and Spring Barrell Tasting.  The wine country tours begin this Friday and last through Saturday.
