Pilot Ran Into Problems At the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco Because He Didn't Have Flight Plan

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - A family flying back from a hunting trip in Alaska in a private plane got some unexpected attention Tuesday night when they landed at the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco.

Local law enforcement, the FBI and Homeland Security wanted to talk with the pilot because the family's flight had them traveling over Canadian air space and the pilot should have filed an international flight plan and been in contact with customs officials.

He did not have the correct flight plan and this had airport security concerned.

The family fully cooperated with authorities.
