Record Travel This Thanksgiving Weekend

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -- AAA said record gasoline prices don't look like they'll put a dent in Thanksgiving holiday travel.

The price of regular is back up over $3 a gallon. That's nearly $1 more than last year at a time when fuel is typically cheaper.

The travel agency said it expects nearly 39 million Americans to be traveling 50 miles or more from home over the five days beginning Nov. 21. AAA said that's up 1.6 percent from last year.

Roughly 80 percent of those trips will be by car.

The Energy Department said motorists can expect to be paying another dime a gallon for gas by December.
