RICHLAND, Wash. - For many people this weekend means time with family and lots of good food but to some it is a time to stock up on great wine.
Barnard Griffin Winery is one of 50 wineries in the Yakima Valley taken part in Thanksgiving in wine country.
The annual event draws thousand of people to wineries across Eastern Washington.
It has become a Northwest tradition.
Over 50 wineries throughout the Yakima Valley are opening their doors for a special Thanksgiving weekend event.
Many people traveling from the west side of the state while others are already here visiting family.
Michelle Guerra was visiting family this weekend. Guerra said, "Barnard Griffin in one of our favorite wineries. Whenever we come into town we stock up our wine supply."
Manager Kim Gravenslund said this weekend gives people the opportunity to stock up on wine before the winter weather sets in.
She said, "People are in the holiday mood. They're thinking gift giving and wine away fits."
The event lasts all weekend. Tickets are 25 dollars at the door.
