Kennewick Police Department Ride Home Program Starts November 25th

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Drinking and driving costs people their lives every year.  If you are caught behind the wheel after a night a boozing it can also cost you thousands of dollars.

The Kennewick Police Department is offering their annual holiday ride home program starting November 25th.  The program lasts until December 31st.

The program has been in place for over 10 years. 

A drunk person can call 628-0333 and arraign to have an officer pick them up and take  them home if they live in Kennewick.  Police said they will not take you to another bar and remind people that this program is not intended to be a taxi service.

Anyone who wants a ride home must submit to a weapons search.

Police report that the holiday ride program only applies to people who are under the influence of alcohol. 

Police said this is a courtesy to prevent drunk driving accidents in the city of Kennewick.
