Yakima Plumbers Taking Care of Thanksgiving Leftovers
YAKIMA, Wash - We know Thanksgiving weekend is a busy time for shoppers and travelers, but it is also one of the "cloggiest" times of the year for plumbers.
Plumbers in Yakima were taking care of calls Sunday they couldn't get to on Friday and Saturday. They say they will get 50% more calls during the holiday weekend then they do normally.
According to staff at Roto-Rooter, people put Thanksgiving leftovers down their sink, which involves foods that can create problems.
"It's primarily plugged drains kitchen sinks, there are some plugged main lines and that is from abuse or extra use of the systems that were already slowing down," says Tim Bushnell, a local plumber.
Bushnell also says more problems come from holiday guests, which requires extra toilet flushes and showers. A house that already has partially clogged pipes, that isn't noticeable until guests arrive, can overwhelm the drainage system.
