The reservoir set to go into West Richland continues to bring in complaints
New information about a meeting in West Richland Monday night that wasn't exactly what Columbia Irrigation District leaders or West Richland Residents thought it was going to be.
The Columbia Irrigation District was hoping that the residents of West Richland, where the 6 million gallon irrigation reservoir is going, would be more willing to compromise and come to a conclusion.
CID wanted to talk about landscaping options and the aesthetics of the land, but all the residents had to say was No, they do not want the reservoir going into what they refer to as their backyards. One homeowner in the area said the above ground reservoir is only going to be 75 feet away from his lot.
John Smart, West Richland resident says, the residents basically felt that they didn't want the reservoir there at all and the mayor and city council indicated that they would move forward with the CID to investigate alternative locations.
Because of the response from the residents the mayor of West Richland said he would continue to discuss the issue with CID and see what he could do about getting the reservoir put somewhere else. The mayor will be meeting with city council on December 3rd to get the authorization to meet with CID.
