RICHLAND, Wash. - City of Richland officials say the amount of trash accumulated between Thanksgiving and the New Year goes up 25 percent. And the average family of 4 will throw away a hundred pounds more of garbage this holiday season.
That's why Environmental Educator Gail Everett is rounding up businesses in Richland willing to offer big deals to consumers using waste free gift certificates.
One of those businesses is Knead to Unwind Message Therapy on the corner of McMurry and George Washington Way. Massage Therapist Alicia Sanborn says a massage is a perfect green gift. "There's nothing really greener than massage therapy. Everyone loves a massage. There's no real waste in a massage so it's a very, very good experience for the holiday's."
Restaurants, fitness groups and other businesses are involved in the waste free holiday program in Richland.
