Multi Semi Accident Closes Highway 221 Near Prosser
PROSSER, Wash. - Today's snow led to a number of car accidents. The worst was a collision between three semi trucks that closed a highway near Prosser.
It happened around 9:30 this morning on state route 221.
An eighteen wheeler started fish tailing and jackknifed blocking all three lanes. The guardrail saved the truck from falling down a 40 foot ravine. After the crash, the driver, Ikbol Jon, did what he could to stop oncoming traffic. "I just stopped, got out of my trailer and ran up hill to stop the traffic."
Jon was able to get a van headed straight for him to stop before it hit the truck. Two other semis weren't so lucky. One hit the trailer dead on. The other slammed into the back of the first. The closest tow truck able to handle the load had to come from Yakima.
