CWU Hoops Team Helping Out with Holiday Gift Project

Posted: Updated:

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University men's basketball team is teaming up to help those in need in the Kittitas Valley this holiday season.

The team is participating in the 2007 Holiday Gift Project, which is sponsored by the CWU President's Office. Student-athletes, coaches, and department personnel are getting together to buy holiday gifts for the youth of Ellensburg and Kittitas County who might not otherwise have something under their holiday tree this winter.

"This is a great opportunity for the men's basketball program and the CWU athletic department to come together and help in Kittitas County," CWU men's basketball coach Greg Sparling said.

Central's men's basketball team has agreed to sponsor approximately 30 children through the Holiday Gift Project, purchasing gifts for those less fortunate in the community this holiday season. Sparling encourages others to become involved, as there are still other children in need of sponsors for this project.

To find out more information about the university's Holiday Gift Project, please contact Kristy Magdlin in the President's Office at 509-963-2111 or by e-mail at magdlink@cwu.edu. The deadline for delivery of this year's gifts to the President's Office is this coming Monday, Dec. 3.
