DeSales Fights Their Way to a State Title

TACOMA, Wash - Kevin Baffney threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another today as DeSales beat Toutle Lake 30-0 in the Class 2B state football championship game.

DeSales held Toutle Lake to negative yards until midway through the third quarter. The Ducks could only manage 55 yards in total offense for the game.

For the game, Baffney was 18-of-27 with no interceptions. He was also the team's placekicker, and booted a 27-yard field goal. Tim Richard caught two touchdown passes for DeSales, and finished with three catches for 65 yards.

Toutle Lake quarterback Cody O'Connor was 2-of-10 passing for 23 yards. Jeff Campbell had 18 yards on eight carries to lead the Toutle Lake rushing attack.

DeSales won its fifth state championship overall and first since 1999. The Irish won three straight titles from 1997-99.
