Icy Roads in Yakima Cause Fatal Crash, Over Fifty Other Wrecks, & Trooper's Car Hit
YAKIMA, Wash.- State patrol says they've been slammed over the weekend, and say drivers need to shape up and start taking these weather conidtions seriously.
This weekend they report well over fifty accidents because of slick conditions. Saturday night around 8 o'clock, a fatal accident happened on Ahatanum and Wiley roads. A full-size truck lost control and hit another car. The passenger in the truck was killed.
Also Saturday night, a man is thrown into jail after losing control and smashing into a state patrol car parked on the side of the highway. Luckily, the trooper wasn't in his car. Troopers say the driver had a history of driving offenses, and say he shouldn't have been driving in the first place.
Troopers say it's not so much about even taking it slow, at this point it's about staying home unless you absolutely need to be out.
Of course, as you plan for the week ahead, make sure you allow enough time to make it to school and work safely, keeping you and other drivers on the out of trouble
