Over 100 tons of food was donated...but it won't last long

Posted: Updated:

We have given you the grand totals and are very grateful to the community who donated to the KNDU and KNDO Family Food Drive but just how long is all that food going to last, you'd be surprised.

Between KNDU and KNDO109 tons of food were donated at the food drive.

Now that's a lot of food, but all of that food is only going to last about three or four months and then it will be gone. That's why director of Second Harvest Kathye Kilgore wants everyone to remember that the need for food never goes away.

Kilgore says, it's so easy to give during the holidays it's part of what we do but they forget that hunger is 24-7, 365 days a year.

There are other events Second Harvest has to raise money and food donations during the year, but come Spring the food banks are going to be low on food and will be in need.

If you would like to donate to Second Harvest you can call 509-585-3924 and in Yakima you can call Northwest Harvest at 509-575-6956
