YAKIMA, Wash. -- Drivers traveling between the Seattle and Portland areas will be detoured through Yakima today.
The Department of Transportation has closed Interstate-5 near Centralia because of flood warnings. They say the Chehalis River could reach 75 feet today, which would put I-5 under five feet of water.
The detour takes drivers over Snoqualmie Pass on I-90, through Yakima, then back over the mountains on Highway-12.
DOT officials say they expect I-5 to be open later today, or possibly tomorrow.
