Inmates Donate to Sexual Assault Center

CONNELL, Wash.- A group of inmates at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center put on a fundraiser for the Sexual Assault Response Center.

Pete O'Brien and Jeff Crenshaw presented a check for more than $500 dollars to SARC Thursday.

The two organized an ice cream social for inmates and donated all of the proceeds to SARC.

"I've been doing time for near 20 years and i don't think i've ever met a bad person. I've met several people who've made bad choices, you know, and this is just an avenue to show their heart's true color," O'Brien said.

"It's a jumpstart at getting back out there, it's a jumpstart of feeling like we can contribute something," added Crenshaw.

This is the second year the inmates have had an ice cream social.

Last year, they raised money for KNDU's Coats for Kids.

They say they're also hoping to put on a cancer run in the future.
