RICHLAND, Wash.-- The Richland Library is getting ready to close its doors for a remodeling and expansion project.
The library is scheduled to close Friday and will be moving to a temporary location. This remodel will ad over 25,000 square feet to the current facility, and it is expected to be completed in less than two years.
Library staff gave us a sneak preview of the new location where they plan to transfer over all books, along with DVDs and computers.
They say they want people to check out library materials before the closure, to make the move a little easier for them.
Jeanette Mercier, Circulation Desk Supervisor, said, "they can check out as much as they want, and we hope they check out a lot because it means less that we and the movers have to move."
There are still a couple days to check out books and other materials. The library will be closing this Friday, December 14th. at 5:00 p.m. for two and a half weeks.
It is scheduled to re-open on January 3rd., 2008. This temporary location will be at 1270 Lee Blvd., in the old Suzuki car dealership. Library staff says all materials checked out by Friday will be due on January 10th.
