Local Advertising Online is on the Rise

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - Local online advertising is getting more and more popular among small business owners, creating a billion dollar industry in the U.S.

Janell Wilz owns Solarium Tanning in Richland.  She's been in business for five years now and started putting ads on the web about a year ago.  She says since then she's noticed a difference in sales. "We always send them to suddenvalues.com to look at the website and print off our coupons and I believe we've actually increased our clientele about 30 percent this last year."

She works with suddenvalues.com.   It's a fairly new ad company that started back in 2005 and has seen an enormous amount of growth in the past 6 months.

"Right now we're signing up 3 to 5 businesses a week. We're constantly growing, we're already sending out about 3,000 emails a week and we're already getting to cross marketing," Charles Rushing, Suddenvalues.com Tri-Cities Manager.

Here's how it works: Merchants put their ad on suddenvalues.com with a special offer or coupon for the consumer.  The customers can then sign up to receive weekly emails with the great deal attached and print off the coupon.

KNDU has also followed the trend of online advertising.  Go to Let's Eat on the right hand side of our home page to get a list of all the local restaurants with great deals.
