RICHLAND, Wash. -- Fourteen schools across the Tri-Cities have been collecting coats for the last couple months as part of the KNDU Coats for Kids Drive.
And after two months of collecting, the winning school is Pasco's Maya Angelou Elementary. This is the 3rd consecutive year they have won. They brought in 474 coats, Desert Hills Middle School came in 2nd with 429 coats, and White Bluffs Elementary came in 3rd with 400.
Maya Angelous will get $500 for being the winner and all schools that donated at least 100 coats will get $200 apiece.
All told, the students donated 2,626 coats. When you add that to the 2,600 already donated that is over 5,200 going to the Salvation Army.
You can still donate to the Coats for Kids Program. The deadline is not until December 31st.
