EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - A 23-year-old Northern California man has been killed while hanging Christmas lights outside an apartment building.
Authorities say the man had climbed about 60 feet up a tree Saturday and was trying to throw a string of lights onto some difficult-to-reach branches when the lights came into contact with a pair of high-voltage power lines, electrocuting him.
When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found the man hanging in the tree and had to wait nearly an hour for utility crews to turn off the power so they could remove his body.
