SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - With freshman Austin Daye scoring 18 points and Micah Downs 17, No. 18 Gonzaga came off a 9-day layoff for final exams and downed Northern Colorado 77-57 Monday night in Spokane.
The Zags led 37-24 at halftime and outscored the Bears 11-4 at the start of the second half for a 48-28 lead with 14 minutes left.
Downs made a career-high five 3-pointers in 10 attempts as Gonzaga overcame a slow start and coasted to their win to improve its record to 9-2.
Freshman Steven Gray played for the first time this season and added 12 points, while Jeremy Pargo had 10 points and eight assists for the Zags.
Leading Zags scorer Matt Bouldin missed the game because of an ankle injury.
Gonzaga plays Oklahoma at Oklahoma City on Thursday night at 6.
