OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - Last week rookie quarterback Troy Smith gave a much-needed spark to the Baltimore offense after Kyle Boller went down. He nearly rallied the slumping Ravens to a victory over Miami.
Now, with With Boller still ailing from a concussion, the Heisman Trophy winner from Ohio State finds himself preparing for his first NFL start -- against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. He took all the snaps with the first-team offense in practice yesterday, while Boller was sent home with continuing headaches and sensitivity to light. S
mith says confidence is no problem for him because he feels he doesn's have to prove anything to anybody -- except for his teammates. He got into the game last weekend after Boller took a fierce hit from Miami defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday. Smith engineered a game-tying 59-yard drive, but the Ravens lost in overtime 22 to 16.
