Posted: Updated:
PULLMA, Wash. - The Washington State University men's basketball team has cracked the top five in the Associated Press Poll for the first time in school history, coming in at No. 4 in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Polls released Monday.

The 11-0 Cougars are off to their best start since the 1991-92 season in which WSU opened at 12-0 and are tied for the sixth-best start in school history. The best start by a WSU squad occurred in 1914-15 with a 17-0 record to open the season.

WSU has been ranked in the top 10 in both polls in each of the eight releases this season, including the preseason poll. The Cougars remain the highest ranked Pacific-10 team, holding one spot over fifth-ranked UCLA. North Carolina holds the top spot, followed by Memphis at No. 2 and Kansas at No. 3. The Pac-10 is the only conference to currently have two top-five teams.
