Throw out your Christmas tree and help kids in need
YAKIMA, Wash -- Santa has come and gone, Christmas is over and now its time to clean up.
One local Yakima charity is making it easy to throw out your tree, and help children with disabilities at the same time.
Camp Prime Time is collecting Christmas trees, chipping them up and selling the mulch. All the money raised will go to helping the camp, which provides weekends in the woods for children with illnesses and disabilities.
The program is supported by the Yakima County Department of Solid Waste as an environmentally friendly way to dispose of Christmas trees.
Volunteers will be collecting trees every day from 8am until 5pm for the next two weeks. The final collections will be Jan 6th.
Trees can be dropped of at Barnett Implement of Yakima on 3110 Fruitvale Boulevard.
