YAKIMA, Wash - As we celebrate the first day of the new year, a local family is celebrating their first born.
Xavier Rodriguez was born at 2:07 Tuesday morning at Yakima Memorial Hospital. He weighed in at four pounds and 15 ounces. Xavier is the first baby to be delivered in Yakima in 2008.
"We weren't expecting it, it was a surprise for us," said Samantha Rodriguez, along side Xavier's father, Jose Salcedo.
Xavier wasn't expected till February, but his parents say they have everything ready at home for him.
The first baby ever delivered in Yakima Memorial Hospital was in 1950.
In 2007, 32,000 babies were born in the hospital, breaking their record.
