The Benton Franklin Humane Society receives a large donation from a generous man
A familiar name in the community gives quite the gift to the Benton Franklin Humane Society.
The Benton Franklin Humane Society is a non-profit organization that has survived in the Mid- Columbia for over 40 years and now they are hoping to upgrade their facility thanks to a generous donation from Roger James.
The retired Hanford chemist gave the humane society $109,077 dollars to help with operational costs.
The humane society has been in the same building for 10 years and really want a larger place to house animals and expand their services to the public by being able to offer low cost says and neuters.
Ed Dawson, Operations Manager of the Humane Society, says the amount of money they received in this donation is tremendous, he says it's life changing as far as the organization goes.
The substantial gift given to the humane society will help keep adoption costs down, right now the costs are $90 dollars for a puppy and $75 dollars for a kitten.
This wasn't the first donation Mr. James has given to benefit the community his picture hangs in the lobby Kadlec Medical Center where he gave a large donation a few years ago.
