PASCO, Wash. - A packed house in Pasco Tuesday night for veterans to learn about a proposed assistance center and discuss issues surrounding veterans in the Tri-Cities.
Members of the Columbia Basin Veterans Coalition want to have a place where veterans and their families can go for things like counseling, transportation and financial assistance.
Charles Herrmann is an attorney helping them in their efforts to use the Daniel Wagenaar Army Reserve Building at the Port of Pasco.
Herrmann said, "Supporting our troops is not just playing music when they march off to war... The real test of patriotism comes when these men come home and face so many difficulties."
Tuesday night veterans and family members talked about their goal of opening a one-stop facility to provide assistance and a place to network with other veterans at Columbia Basin College.
