A Richland Man is Tazed after Attempting to Burglarize a Home
RICHLAND, Wash. - The family living at 1001 Winslow Avenue on the corner of Swift Boulevard in Richland told police they had to hold the door closed to stop a man from forcing his way inside.
It happened just before midnight Wednesday night. The McMahon family, who is in the process of moving into their new home, quickly called 911.
John McMahon describes what happened. "I came in behind the door and barricaded it as best I could. He hit the door before I could get it locked...pushed it open two or three inches and I got my weight behind it and got it shut and had her call 911."
When police arrived, they found the man fighting with his girlfriend who showed up trying to stop him. Police tazed the man to get control of the situation.
Police are calling this incident an attempted burglary for now, but are not releasing his name. All they're saying is he is a 33 year old white Richland man. Police say the man may have been confused thinking the house he was breaking into was his own.
