Power Outage Shuts Down West Valley H.S., 1200 Lose Power

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.- Thousands of people in West Valley Yakima were without power Thursday morning after a car crashes into a power pole. Pacific Power says the accident happened just after 1 a.m. on Occidental and 96th Avenue.

Originally, only two homes were affected, but once crews had to replace the damaged power pole, they had to shut off all the power in West Valley. It affected over 1,200 homes and closed down the high school for the day.

Pacific Power says all but 100 homes had their power restored within an hour and all the power should have been restored by 5 p.m.
