KENNEWICK, Wash.--Port of Kennewick officials say they're throwing around a number of ideas for the Tri-Cities Raceway. The track, once a venue for racing fanatics and good old family fun sits on 92 acres of prime real estate in West Richland.
Port of Kennewick Director of Planning and Development, Larry Peterson, says they want to have an "expanded presence" near Highway 224 and Keene road.
"Many industrial activities such as warehouse distribution, light manufacturing activities are being considered along with the wine industry," says Peterson.
Contrary to reports, the port has not yet purchased the Tri-Cities Raceway. The site is only under contract right now. Port of Kennewick executives are waiting on an environmental review of the surrounding land and property.
If all goes well, the sale should be complete by mid-April. The price..close to $2 million dollars.
