LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Josh Heytvelt had 19 points and five rebounds tonight to lead Gonzaga to a 91-68 victory over Loyola Marymount.
The Bulldogs shot a blistering 65 percent from the field and pulled away with an 18-4 run over the game's final 4-and-a-half minutes.
The win improves Gonzaga's record to 12-4. The game was the West Coast Conference opener for both teams.
Heytvelt and the Zags used their superior size and strength to score 52 points inside, compared with just 18 by Loyola Marymount. Gonzaga also had a 29-21 rebounding advantage and had seven blocks to just one for the Lions.
Matt Bouldin had 17 points, eight assists, five steals and four rebounds for Gonzaga.
Austin Daye came off the bench to score 13 points for the Bulldogs and fellow reserve Micah Downs scored 10 as the Gonzaga bench outscored Loyola Marymount's, 39-17.
Loyola Marymount's Corey Counts led the Lions with a game-high 21 points.
