YAKIMA, Wash.- Seahawks season might be over, but football is just getting started here in the Northwest. The Yakima Mavericks minor league football teamed kicked off their first pre-season practice this weekend at Davis High School's Kumler field. It was also a chance for new players to come out for the team. This is the fifth season for the Yakima Mavericks, and we're told this years team has a lot returning players.
The Mav's Quarterback and Offensive Coordinator James Phillips says so far, the team is looking pretty good. "It was nice to see new faces along with the core returners from our team, although there was three inches of snow on the ground so there wasn't much to do," said Phillips.
If you're interested in coming out for the team, practices will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am at Zaepfel Field- that's at Eisenhower High School. Team officials say just come ready to play.
