A 15-year-old girl gets seriously injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 395, about two miles north of Hermiston.
She was thrown from the 1988 GMC flatbed pickup truck she was driving by a van. The driver of the van 85-year-old Charles Boddeker slammed into the truck as the girl was trying to cross eastbound across five lanes onto Klaus Road.
She was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston. She was then taken by air ambulance to an unknown Portland area hospital with serious injuries.
Boddeker was using his seat belt and his van's airbags deployed. He was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Oregon State Police troopers from the Hermiston work site are continuing the investigation. The Hermiston Fire Department, Hermiston Ambulance, and Oregon DOT also assisted at the scene.
